Katherine Heigl Adopts Baby Korean Girl

Congratulations! Grey’s Anatomy star, Katherine Heigl and her husband, Josh Kelley, of almost 2 years are adopting a baby. The married couple have chosen a ten-month old baby girl from Korea which they’ve decided to name Nayleigh. Heigl explained the name is derived from combining her mother’s name Nancy with Leigh. By all accounts, the couple is extremely happy and looking forward to finalizing the adoption process which they started about six months ago. Rather a speedy process considering how lengthy most adoptions are. The 30-year old actress stated: “She is a special needs baby and because of that it all moved so much faster. They wanted to get her to us as quickly as possible.”

This isn’t the first time the Heigl family has been involved with a Korean adoption. Katherine’s older sister, Meg, was adopted in the seventies by her parents. Heigl recently told Ellen Degeneres that she always knew that adopting a baby from Korea was something she’s always wanted to do. She has been quoted that her adopted sister Meg has always been one of her best friends. By coincidence, Baby Nayleigh’s birthday and Heigl are only one day apart. Jokingly Katherine commented that she has basically forfeited her birthday for Nayleigh’s for the rest of her life.

Heigl’s interview with Ellen will air on the Ellen DeGeneres show this Friday. The always outspoken actress’ interview will no doubt be one to watch. Hopefully she’ll give the viewers a picture of her new baby. Check your local listings.
