The Chainsmokers found themselves under fire this week after making a joke about the safety of dogs in China. Some found it insensitive and borderline racist due to the fact it was perpetuating Asian stereotypes. IMHO, it was much ado about nothing. A day after that brouhaha, the duo’s collaboration with K-Pop boy band BTS arrives.
The “Closer” hitmakers and South Korean act first met at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, where BTS took home a history-making win for Top Social Artist. The Asian act has also been named as one of the 25 most influential people on the internet by TIME magazine.
“Best Of Me” is lifted off BTS’ new LP titled Love Yourself: Her arriving September 18. According to Billboard, it already has over 1 million in pre-orders. If they sell even just five percent of that total in the US, it’ll be enough for a Top 10 debut on the Billboard Top 200. That would be a first for a K-Pop act.
Give “Best Of Me” a listen below. It definitely sounds like a Chainsmokers production.
