Justin Bieber and Justin Timberlake have the same first name, but that’s where the similarities end, if you asked the Biebs. The Canadian pop singer was not impressed when an interviewer commented he thought it was Timberlake singing “Boyfriend” the first time he heard it. Bieber quickly replied, “Our voices sound nothing alike.” The radio morning host explained it was meant to be a compliment, but Mr. Selena Gomez wasn’t having any of it, saying he has his “own lane and not be compared.”
Guess JB never got the memo, but “Boyfriend” does sound like a Timberlake track. Even the music video for it looks like an updated version of JT’s “Like I Love You“. Personally, I think being compared to Timberlake would be a compliment. It’s not like he being compared to Howie Dorough from the Backstreet Boys 😉
As if that segment wasn’t awkward enough, things go even worse from then on. When the topic of One Direction came up, Justin called the boyband “kids“. The interviewer than asked Bieber, “Do you worry about Harry (One Direction) when he’s around your mom because it seems like he likes older women?”. They go back and forth with odd banter with Bieber eventually hanging up on the radio host. Listen to the interview in its entirety below.
Do you think Justin should’ve been offended with the Timberlake comparison? Would you have hung up if someone brought up your mother? Sound off below.
