Pop sensation Justin Bieber is heading to Sin City and hanging out with the CSI crew. The Biebs will guest star in the eleventh season premiere of the CBS crime drama, playing a “troubled teen” named Jason McCann. His character “is faced with a terrible decision regarding his only brother — a decision that leads him into an explosive confrontation with the CSIs.” The acting stint won’t be a one-time affair either, he’s scheduled to return later in the season to complete his character’s story.

CSI Executive Producers released the following statement:

“Every 20 years, a phenomenon like Justin Bieber graces our world… We’d like to believe that the phenomenon of ‘CSI’ has had the same impact on popular culture. The opportunity to bring them together in the premiere is a great treat for our audience and all of its new viewers. … We’re looking forward to Justin’s dramatic star turn, not only in the premiere, but in a continuing seasonal arc.”

Haha. Every 20 years, huh. Somewhere out there The Jonas Bros, Backstreet Boys, N’ Sync and other former teen heartthrobs are crying their eyes out. Poor guys, Bieber Fever has clouded the network’s memory. Justin’s appearance will most certainly lower the show’s elderly demographics, which will make many of CBS’ advertisers very happy.

This will technically mark Bieber’s acting debut. Performing in a couple of SNL sketches when he was the week’s musical guest, doesn’t count. Upon the announcement, Justin tweeted he was working with an acting coach and was learning a new craft. IMHO, it’s wise Bieber’s people suggested he dabble in acting on the small screen first before flopping on the big screen. Go ask Mariah and Britney how that feels.

I don’t think I’ve ever watched an episode of CSI before (I’m more of a Law & Order kinda guy), but I just might check out Justin’s foray into acting. I guess CBS’ stunt casting worked in attracting at least one new viewer… yours truly.
