Her songwriting credits include “Love Myself” (Hailee Steinfeld), “Sorry” (Justin Bieber), “Slumber Party” (Britney Spears), “All in My Head (Flex)” (Fifth Harmony) and multiple tracks for Selena Gomez, including “Slow Down,” “Good For You” and “Hands to Myself.” When Julia Michaels wrote “Issues,” she reluctantly realized it was time to step into the spotlight.
On why the 23-year-old songwriter decided this was the time, she told Music Week, “It really is all of the issues I deal with on a daily basis. I felt uncomfortable with someone else singing my life.”
Wise decision to keep it. “Issues” is doing well with regards to streaming and has already cracked the Top 30 of the Billboard Hot 100. With a fantastic accompanying visual now available, the song’s profile will rise, propelling it even higher on the chart.
I’m a huge fan of the infectious track. Glad that Michaels is getting mainstream attention. She’s a talent that deserves it. Check out the video below.
