Back in 2000, there was a biography released entitled “Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland”. It did relatively well, but now Hollywood’s got it’s claws on one of the brightest stars of them all to bring the book to the silver screen.
Insert Anne Hathaway, star of such films as “Brokeback Mountain”, “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Get Smart”. Was it a “smart” choice to cast her as the late, great Judy Garland??
OH HELL YEAH!
Hathaway will star in both the film adaptation of the book, and even perform it live on Broadway. Look for the movie to hit theaters in 2010.
PS- Why do we love Judy so much? Let’s see: she played Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz” (who didn’t love the ruby slippers??!). Not to mention she battled alcohol addiction, married gay men left-right and center, gave birth to that hot-tranny-mess Liza Minnelli, popped pills, threatened to jump out of a NYC hotel room if they evicted her… the tragedy is just so wonderfully… GAY!
