You probably never thought you’d see Harry Potter and Don Draper passing a loofah in a tub, but the unimaginable has happened. Even Daniel Radcliffe knows the enviable position he’s in. “It was great, because you know you are the envy of every woman ever,” he said of the bath tub scene. The first clip of A Young Doctor’s Notebook has surfaced featuring Radcliffe and Jon Hamm soaking in water together.
Given the intimate setting, it’s not what you think. Rather Radcliffe plays the younger version of Hamm’s character, often interacting with his older self in morbid conversation. A Young Doctor’s Notebook is a four-part comedy-drama series directed by Alex Hardcastle. It’s an adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s short stories, based on himself when he worked as a medic in a small Russian village.
“I have been an obsessive Bulgakov reader for a couple of years now so when the opportunity to become involved in this project came up, I could barely contain my excitement. The book is funny, grotesque, and heartfelt in equal measure, and I look forward to working with a great group of people to help bring it to life.” – Daniel Radcliffe
A Young Doctor’s Notebook will premiere on December 6, as part of Sky Arts’ acclaimed Playhouse Presents… series. No US air date has been set yet, but will be distributed internationally by BBC Worldwide. Watch the trailer below.
