Jimmy Kimmel returned to his regular gig Monday night after hosting the Oscars. Given all the press generated due to the last few moments of the 89th Academy Awards, the 49-year-old host addressed the epic Oscar fail, sharing his personal perspective. It’s quite interesting to hear his recap of the debacle and also find out what was the intended plan to end the telecast.
If you re-watched the final minutes of the show several times like I did, you might’ve noticed Kimmel sitting in the audience beside his faux arch-nemesis, Matt Damon. The original plan to end the night was supposed to be with another dig at Damon. While he’s waiting for his cue, Jimmy notices something amiss is going on and realizes he has to go on stage and address the situation.
His hilarious recap of the now infamous Oscars gaffe is worth a view. “It was the weirdest TV finale since Lost,” he jokes. His comment about Clyde (Warren Beatty) throwing Bonnie (Faye Dunaway) under the bus had me chuckling. Check out the clip below.
