For her music debut, Jewel sold an astounding 12 million copies of “Pieces of You“, making it one of the best selling debut albums ever. The album spawned three hits- “Who Will Save Your Soul”, “You Were Meant For Me” and “Foolish Games“. Now 37-years-old, Jewel Kilcher is hoping to achieve the same level of success with her debut in acting. She’s appeared on television before playing herself, but never portraying a different character, until now.
Kilcher has signed on to play the lead in an upcoming biopic for Lifetime. The role won’t be too much of a stretch for the singer, since she’ll be playing a musician. Curious to know who’ll she be portraying? Here’s a hint. Another actress earned an Academy Award for playing this famous woman a few years ago. Keeping reading to find out.
If you guessed June Carter Cash, then you’re correct. The Lifetime movie is based on the memoir, “Anchored in Love: An Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash“, written by the Cashes son, John Carter Cash. Playing the role of Johnny Cash is Matt Ross. His previous acting credits include “American Horror Story” and “Big Love”.
“Many people know about the legendary love story of Johnny and June, but June Carter Cash has her own epic journey filled with triumphs, tragedies, loves and losses,” Lifetime executive Rob Sharenow said. “This movie will explore all aspects of the woman behind the icon, and we’re thrilled Jewel will be playing the role.”
What do you think of Jewel’s foray into acting? Will she do June Carter Cash proud? I’m sure she’ll do well in all the singing portions. Did you watch Reese Witherspoon in “Walk The Line“? Sound off below.

This isn’t Jewel’s first foray into acting. In 1999, she was in Ang Lee’s Ride With The Devil.

Though I’m a fan of Jewel, in “Ride With The Devil”, she always looked like she was ready to burst into laughing all the time. Hope that this time her acting will be better. But one thing for sure is her singing is a million time better than Reese Witherspoon.

Think she’ll do fine with acting but for sure she’ll be able to sing her heart out-much better than Reese, thoughReese did fairly well.
