To be fair, “I’ll Be There” was originally recorded by The Jackson 5 back in 1970. But I’m sure most of our readers know Mariah Carey’s version, which she recorded for her MTV Unplugged album, much better. It’s pretty evident that’s the case for Jessie J. Her version is closer to Carey’s rendition more than the original.
The 30-year-old English singer recently performed the classic track on the Chinese series, The Singer. Speaking of which, belated congratulations to Jessie J. She won the Chinese singing competition last week, becoming the first Western singer to do so. Not a real surprise given she dominated the competition, never falling out of the top three each week and claiming first place in five out of 11 preliminary rounds.
Check out Jessie’s cover below which she performed with Luke James. For those who don’t know James, he stars on the FOX series, Star. He also dated Jessie for about a year back in 2015. Are the former lovers getting back together? Well, they certainly make beautiful music together.
