Who doesn’t love a good pot-themed comedy? Dazed & Confused and Pineapple Express quickly come to mind as two of the best. Hoping to follow their success at the box office and stoner households around the world is Jesse Eisenberg’s new film, American Ultra. Mark Zuckerberg, definitely he is not, in this action comedy.
Eisenberg plays a stoner in a small town who finds his life disrupted when his past comes to haunt him. Apparently, at one time he was a trained assassin. Check out the official synopsis below.
An action comedy about Mike (Eisenberg), a seemingly hapless and unmotivated stoner whose small-town life with his live-in girlfriend, Phoebe (Kristen Stewart), is suddenly turned upside down. Unbeknownst to him, Mike is actually a highly trained, lethal sleeper agent. In the blink of an eye, as his secret past comes back to haunt him, Mike is thrust into the middle of a deadly government operation and is forced to summon his inner action-hero in order to survive.
American Ultra re-teams Eisenberg and Stewart for the first time in five years. They previously starred in Greg Mottola’s Adventureland. Joining them in the film are Topher Grace, Connie Britton, Bill Pullman and John Leguizamo.
The film smokes up at theaters on August 21. Check out the entertaining red band trailer below.
