This week’s Sports Stud made headlines this week when he was given the armband and named the first ever Whitecaps MLS captain. His name is Jay DeMerit, and he was also the first person named on the team back in November. He plays center back and he’s the 20th player to wear the armband, taking over for Martin Nash who retired in October to pursue coaching within the club. They were hoping that by bringing him on, he’d be a natural leader within the team and he did just that.
Although he’s playing for a Vancouver team, the 31 year old is actually from Wisconsin and plays on the U.S. National team, having started in all four games for the U.S. in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He was also the captain at English Championship side Watford.
The sexy DeMerit is pretty active on Twitter as well, where he says “I live life… HARD.” Reading some of his tweets, he’s actually quite funny and you should follow him @d6merit. He seems to be loving Vancouver a lot, tweeting while on the seawall, “Vancouver could only get better if it was wrapped in bacon.” Also, a while back he tweeted some photos of himself, one being a “half moon”…aka his ass. Check out some of his pics below!
This guy’s gives Beckham a run for his money.

Here’s the caption that went along with this TwitPic: “Not bad views guys, but there’s a beautiful half moon down here in AZ.”
