The first trailer made a splash at San Diego Comic-Con in July and now we have an even more extended look at the highly-anticipated origin film of Aquaman. I really hope this doesn’t suck. The DC Comics films have mostly, with exception to Wonder Woman, underwhelmed.
Director James Wan delivers an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.
Momoa plays the titular hero. He’s joined by Amber Heard as Mera, a fierce warrior and Aquaman’s ally throughout his journey, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, council to the Atlantean throne, Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, the present King of Atlantis; Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, King of the Atlantean tribe Xebel; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the vengeful Black Manta, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, Atlantean Commando Temuera Morrison as Arthur’s dad, Tom Curry and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman as Arthur’s mom, Atlanna;
Check out the sensational trailer below which shows Momoa in the classic green and yellow Aquaman costume. Surprisingly, a good portion of the action takes place on land. The extended chase scene is thrilling to say the least.
Aquaman swims into theaters on December 14 in the UK and December 21 in the US.
