With the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games taking place this week/weekend in Los Angeles, I felt it would be pertinent to highlight one of the athletes participating and competing for The Fittest On Earth. I’ve been watching the games on the live feeds all week and it’s truly incredible what these people are capable of. One of my coaches here in Vancouver even made it 12th in the Women’s 40-44 age category and I’m so proud of her!
For this week’s Sports Stud, I’ve chosen to highlight Jason Khalipa, the man who is currently in the first place position after six events (The Pool, Row 1, Row 2, Burden Run, ZigZag Spring, and Legless). There are still five more events so it’s still anyone’s game (including past winner, Rich Froning Jr. who is currently in third place).
Khalipa is 27-years old, 5’9″ and 210 lbs. He’s the owner of NorCal CrossFit (which has 6 locations) and has been doing CrossFit since 2006. Khalipa won the 2008 World CrossFit Games and has competed and placed well ever since. He’s even been a guest coach on NBC’s The Biggest Loser. We wish him the best of luck with the remainder of the events! If you want to watch them live this weekend, the website is games.crossfit.com. In the meantime, check out his photos below.
