Get It While You Can has been in pre-production hell for several years. The film revolves around rock legend Janis Joplin who died of a heroin overdose in 1970 at the age of 27. For some reason or another, the Joplin biopic just can’t move forward. Previously, Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) and Fernando Meirelles (City of God) were attached to direct the independent film. The Hollywood Reporter is now reporting that Lee Daniels (Precious: Based on the Novel PUSH by Sapphire) is the latest director attached to the project.

The Philadelphia native is expected to sign on the dotted line in the coming weeks. If he does, production will begin in early 2013. Currently, Daniels is wrapping the filming of the all-star drama The Butler starring Jane Fonda, Oprah Winfrey, Robin Williams and James Marsden to name a few. Find out which actress is attached below.

Amy Adams is reportedly in negotiations to play the music legend. Previously, Renee Zellweger was sealed to play the “Piece of My Heart” singer. Adams is one busy lady. In 2012 alone, she’s starred in The Master, Trouble With The Curve and On The Road. Next year, she’ll appear alongside Henry Cavill in Man of Steel.

Do you think Amy Adams is a good choice to play Janis Joplin? Who would’ve you cast? Sound off below.
