The pioneers of future funk are making a comeback. Jamiroquai announced they’re dropping their eighth studio album, Automaton, later his year. It marks their first new offering since Rock Dust Light Star released in 2010.
If that wasn’t enough excitement, the Jay Kay-fronted British funk band also revealed they’re embarking on a tour. They’ll hit a bunch of festivals in Japan, South Korea, Italy, Switzerland, France and more countries. Sadly, no North American dates have been scheduled. Hopefully, that will change soon.
Jamiroquai have sold more than 35 million albums worldwide. They’re best known for their late ’90s smash, “Virtual Insanity.” That track won four awards at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards, as well as a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 40th Annual Grammy Awards.
Check out below the short teaser trailer directed by Charlie Lightening, promoting their new era.
