I’m sad to report that another bullied gay teen took his own life this past Friday. Jamie Hubley of Canada’s capital, Ottawa, took his own life and left a suicide note on his Tumblr account. The 15-year old (pictured above with his father, Kanata South councillor Allan Hubley) struggled with people bullying him at school and documented these struggles on his blog. He said he couldn’t wait the three years until school would be done because it was just too painful.

Suicide is the second-leading cause of death for Canadians between the ages of 10 and 24. Within this group, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth make up a large part of the number. This should not be the case. This bullying must stop.

Hubley, who gave a shout out to his favorite musicians (including Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, among others), also referenced an episode of Glee in saying, “Remember me as a Unicorn” in his suicide note. Read his final words below. So sad.
