Way to keep those gay rumors alive James Franco. At this point, I’m starting to believe it’s some sort of game the 35-year-old actor is playing on all of us. Once again, he’s behind the camera directing a movie that’s about the gays. This time he isn’t filming homosexuals cruising, but rather highlighting the life of gay actor in Sal.
Back in the 1950s, Sal Mineo rose to fame and became a teen idol for his roles in Rebel Without a Cause and Exodus. However, when he came out two decades later, he was no longer a huge marquee name. Tragically, he died at the age of 37 in 1976. Featuring a magnetic performance by Val Lauren, Franco’s intimate portrait finds the human details in a larger-than-life Hollywood story.
Sal debuts in select theaters starting on November 1, but will be available earlier on VOD beginning October 22. Check out the recently-released trailer below.
