The first trailer for a movie called Interior. Leather Bar. by James Franco & Travis Mathews has just been revealed and the film is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2013. The movie is an homage to William Friedkin’s 1980 thriller, Cruising, starring a young Al Pacino.
Filmmakers James Franco and Travis Mathews re-imagine the lost 40 minutes from Cruising as a starting point to a broader exploration of sexual and creative freedom. As the story goes, in order to avoid an ‘X rating,’ 40 minutes of gay S&M footage was rumored to have been cut and destroyed from the 1980 film. This new movie is inspired by the mythology of the controversial film and is re-imagined as what the “lost footage” from the making of the controversial scenes might have looked like.
As part of the story, actor Val Lauren (Christian Patrick) reluctantly agrees to take the lead in the film. By taking on the role, he is repeatedly forced to negotiate his boundaries during scenes on and “off camera,” as unsimulated gay sex happens around him. The film is all about pushing the boundaries in various different ways. This movie looks so good for so many reasons and what a fascinating story to tell! Watch the trailer below.

Forced? I don’t think so. Nobody makes these actors take the roles they take. Get outta here!!!
