Men’s Health’s November issue featuring Henry Cavill hit newsstands already last week, but I just got my issue in the mail today so I’m just posting about it now. A week late or not, who doesn’t love some Henry Cavill loving? Especially after seeing those pics from the movie set where he was photographed showing off his big burly muscular frame. SWOON. The star of the upcoming Superman reboot, “Man of Steel” showed off his massive guns for the health magazine.

Though he’s the epitome of muscle and fitness these days, you’ll be surprised to know that during his teenager years, he was a little round. That’s a polite way of saying fat. Cavill discusses this, his workout regiment and losing out on major movie roles before landing the coveted Superman gig. Here are a few snippets from his interview with the magazine.

On losing the role of James Bond to Daniel Craig:
“I obviously wasn’t right for Bond. I did [give it my all], and I wasn’t right. That’s all.”

On his childhood:
“Fat Cavill… It’s definitely a mean nickname. But kids are kids. Kids are cruel. Whatever. I was fat.”

On his Immortals role:
“There was a sense of team and camaraderie. We all sweated together, we all bled together, we all ate the same highly inefficient food and just kept on going and supported each other.”

On his training for playing Theseus:
“It’s very stressful, waking up Monday morning and saying ‘Can I still see that vein in my abs?’”

On his life’s credo:
Take every learning experience you can and apply it to yourself and grow from it. You didn’t get it. Tough. Now move on. Get the next one. Putting in the hard work and losing is the tough bit. That is what makes you special. That’s what makes you a man: giving your all, losing, getting back up, and giving it your all again. Because otherwise it would be easy.

Can you believe for his interview, Cavill doesn’t pose for one single shirtless pics? That’s like a straight guy buying Playboy magazine and not seeing any boobies. Shameful. Luckily, a few more pics from the Vancouver set surfaced recently. The Superman star is once again without a top showing off that manly hairy chest of his.
