HBO Cancels ‘Here And Now’

One and done!!!

Alan Ball has an impeccable track record when it comes to delivering hits. He’s the creative mind behind Oscar winner American Beauty and television hits Six Feet Under and True Blood. Turns out not everything the 60-year-old touches turns to gold. His most recent offering, Here And Now, was a critical and commercial miss. HBO announced it’s canceled the family drama, a week after its Season 1 finale.

“After careful consideration we have decided not to move forward with a second season of Here and Now,” HBO said in a statement to Deadline. “We thank Alan for his dedication to innovative storytelling, and we look forward to his next endeavor.”

Holly Hunter and Tim Robbins headlined the series which focused on a contemporary multi-racial family. Never watched it, but based on the trailer, it looked like This Is Us but amped up with a few LGBT storylines. Did you watch Here And Now? Bummed that it’s not coming back for a sophomore run? Weigh in below.

The gay brother storyline was good, the rest of it was crap.

  • TrevorZ

I liked it, but it didn’t give viewers any idea of its direction.

  • Shawn

It was an enjoyable show, sometimes over the top. HBO should have at least given it a final movie (i.e. Looking) to wrap up the stories.
