Is a Jack Ryan reprise on the way soon? At this rate, it’s certainly a possibility. Harrison Ford has revisited some of his most popular roles recently.
We’ve all seen him as Han Solo again in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and he’s set to play Rick Deckard in the forthcoming Blade Runner sequel. And now this. Disney just confirmed a fifth Indiana Jones is coming and with Steven Spielberg attached as well.
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” Alan Horn, chairman, The Walt Disney Studios, said in a statement. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”
Not that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a trainwreck, but it wasn’t nearly as great as its predecessors. Is a fifth one really necessary? I thought a reboot was in the works instead? Perhaps this is the way the studio will pass the torch from the 73-year-old actor to a younger successor.
