I haven’t watched Grey’s Anatomy in years, but started again this season when I learned the show was going to feature its first-ever gay male surgeon and a romance between two gay men. After weeks of light flirting, Jake Borelli’s character Dr Levi Schmitt and new surgeon Nico Kim (Alex Landi) finally locked lips Thursday night. Watch it below.

After the episode aired, Borelli took to social media to publicly and proudly come out as a gay man. Read his Instagram post below.

As a gay guy myself, tonight's episode was so special to me. This is exactly the kind of story I craved as a young gay kid growing up in Ohio, and it blows my mind that I'm able to bring life to Dr. Levi Schmitt as he begins to grapple with his own sexuality this season on Grey’s Anatomy. His vulnerability and courage inspire me every day, and I hope he can do the same for you. To all of you who feel like little Levis out there, know that I do too, that you are seen, and that we're all in this together. And to everyone who has supported me over the years, I can't thank you enough, and I love you more than all the stars…
It doesn’t look like it’ll be happily-ever-after for Borelli’s character Levi just yet. When Nico learned he was Levi’s first ever kiss with a man, Nico informed Levi he couldn’t pursue anything with him because he didn’t want to experience coming out all over again. BOO!!! I’m sure Levi will eventually get his man. At least I hope so.
