Greg Berlanti is taking another break from his television empire, which includes Arrow, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Titans, God Friended Me, Riverdale and countless others, to dabble in film again. Following his successful turn directing the gay teen coming-of-age film Love Simon, he’s selected to pay homage to a silver screen icon.
Deadline reports the 46-year-old producer is attached to direct Universal Pictures’ Rock Hudson biopic. The studio optioned the upcoming Harper Collins Mark Griffin book All That Heaven Allows: A Biography of Rock Hudson.
Hudson was a heartthrob during the Hollywood Golden Age. He appeared in nearly 70 films and several television productions during his career. Although he was discreet about his sexuality, it was a known fact that he was gay. His sexual orientation rose to international conversation following his death from AIDS-related complications in 1985, becoming the first major celebrity to die from an AIDS-related illness.
