The CW Developing ‘Good Christian Bitches’ Reboot

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. And that’s exactly what Darren Star (Sex And The City) is doing. He’s teaming up again with Aaron Kaplan (A Million Little Things) to bring Good Christian Bitches to the small screen, hopefully with better success than the first time around.

Based on Kim Gatlin’s 2012 novel of the same name, Good Christian Bitches was first adapted for television by ABC in 2011 and only lasted one season. Due to pressure from conservative groups, the alphabet network watered down the show and the title itself, opting for the less provocative GCB. With the reboot taking place at The CW, the same roadblocks won’t arise.

GCB revolved around a recently widowed woman who moved her family back to the upscale Dallas, Texas, neighborhood where she grew up. It starred Leslie Bibb, Kristin Chenoweth, Jennifer Aspen, Marisol Nichols, Miriam Shor, David James Elliott, Mark Deklin, Eric Winter and Annie Potts.

The reboot will center on the clergy and parishioners of Flock, a hip church in Austin where “prayers and worship music cover up a multitude of sins and secrets.” For more about the reboot, head over to Deadline.com.

Did you watch the first ABC series? I did and enjoyed it. Had ABC given it a chance, I have no doubt it would’ve found its groove. I’ll definitely sample the reboot if it comes to fruition. Will you? Weigh in below.

I absolutely LOVED the first incarnation of GCB. It had everything and was a blast to watch. My worry is that most of the old cast is currently involved in other projects, such as Annie Potts in Young Sheldon. Casting will have to be done very carefully so as to not ruin the memories. I hope this reboot happens.
