Simon Cowell’s smash Britain hit, X-Factor has had a ton of American performers grace its stage this year and this week during the semi-finals, the kids of Glee took to the stage to sing a rendition of what got them started.
With the funniest intro ever created by Sue Sylvester and Will Schuster, the two introduce the group about to perform. Beginning with the original singers, Artie (Kevin McHale), Finn (Cory Monteith), Mercedes (Amber Riley), Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), and Rachel (Lea Michelle), they begin to sing the first verse of Don’t Stop Believin’. My first question is obviously WHERE IS KURT (Chris Colfer)? Maybe he’ll come out later? Back to the performance. Sure, they’re using Pro Tools (auto tune on the spot for live performance), but you can’t deny that they can still sing and perform. And hey, you can’t help but love this classic Journey tune no matter how many times you hear it.
After the first verse, the rest of the cast joins the stage and we get to mix up the vocal arrangements so everyone gets a chance to sing. Again, no Chris Colfer. Santana’s (Naya Rivera) verse was amazing and hearing Amber and Kevin wale on the chorus was amazing! One of my favorite moments of the performance was Amber singing “Don’t Stop…” right to Simon Cowell. Simon cut her when she auditioned for American Idol and look at her now. You go girl. They even amped up the dance moves for this live performance to make it more stage ready.
What did you think of the performance? I loved Amber’s last note. The interview at the end is a little awkward but I love the question “Who is scarier to perform in front of, Sue Sylvester or Simon Cowell?” The Glee Tour is set to hit Britain during its European leg in mid-2011 and will include new cast members Chord Overstreet and Darren Criss.
