Glee Goes To The Movies For Their 500th Musical Number

After being bumped by American Idol the past couple of weeks, Glee returns with a brand new episode this Thursday. Not just any ordinary one, but one that features a huge milestone. The episode titled “Girls (and Boys) On Film” features the 500th musical number. Can you believe Lea Michele and company have covered that many songs in just four seasons? Insane. Find out below which lucky track gets the honor of becoming number 500.

Last time we left the gang, Rachel (Lea Michele) took a pregnancy test, Emma (Jayma Mays) left Will (Matthew Morrison) at the altar, Quinn (Dianna Agron) took a dip in the lady pond with Santana (Naya Rivera) and Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) apologized to Blaine (Darren Criss) for being a stalker hag 😉 Obviously the upcoming episode is all about Will trying to woo Emma back. What better way to win her over by taking inspiration from some of the most romantic moments in cinema.

Songs featured in this episode come from Ghost, Moulin Rouge, Top Gun, Footloose, Say Anything, Royal Wedding and Animal House. Say what??? Yup, “Shout” which was featured in the John Belushi classic gets the New Directions treatment and earns the distinction as the 500th musical number. I wonder if this was planned or just happened to be. Listen to it below, along with all eight songs from Thursday night’s show.

  • How are they going to fit 8 songs into an hour long episode? It isn’t even a show anymore, it’s just an anthology of music Ryan Murphy and company like.
