Last night, Ryan Murphy promised his Twitter followers a surprise Friday morning. Personally, I was hoping for high-res images of the Men of McKinley High calendar. If you haven’t watched that episode yet, click here for the titillating highlights. While not as sexy, Murphy’s treat to Glee fans is pretty darn FIERCE.
In honor of Beyonce’s Super Bowl halftime show this weekend, the Glee co-producer released one of next week’s performances early. Unique (Alex Newell), Marley (Melissa Benoist), Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), Kitty (Becca Tobin), Brittany (Heather Morris) and Blaine (Darren Criss) cover Beyonce’s “Diva” for the the episode, appropriately titled “Diva.” If you recall, a diva is a female version of a hustla. In Glee’s case, it’s a high school version of a drag queen. There’s so much hair flipping, finger wagging and sequined outfits, it’s enough to make the contestants on RuPaul’s Drag Race a little jealous.
Whether you like the new cast or old cast better, I will give the show credit for raising the bar with the performances this year. Season 4, especially the episodes after the winter hiatus, have been astounding. The storylines are, as always, a bit iffy, but the covers and mashups are definitely worth watching, in my opinion. Check out McKinley High’s Diva-off below.
Who do you think won this diva-off? Or are you more excited for Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Rachel’s (Lea Michele) diva battle? Are you enjoying this season of Glee? Sound off below.

i need to slap ryan murphy
he is just not doing it right
last two episodes have been horrible
1- they are making darren a weak flamboyant gay, and thats not what he standed for
2- tina is so not a diva , she has been a pushover for three seasons
,, vocally only darren criss can compare to beyonce i love britney , but making her sing a beyonce song is mean , making her sing in general is mean
dont get me wrong she can do kesha , cuz thats not singing

For once somebody at hair-and-make-up misplaced Darren Criss’ hair gel, and boy what a relief! I say ditch the hair gel already, those cute curls are to die for.

Not a fan of the mix for the track, but the vocals weren’t bad. I wish they hadn’t done the song, because it didn’t do anyone any favours in terms of writing a cohesive plot; that said, its far from their worst cover on the series.

Since when has Tina been “talking trash unchallenged”? Anytime she tries to speak up and say anything on this show, she is shot down and pushed to the back again. How come the people that actually are hogging the limelight not getting any flack? I know they are just characters, but seriously, both Marley and Blaine can go fuck themselves.
And you know what? Men can be diva’s. But they don’t have to dress up like Adam Lambert or Ru Pal to do it. What the heck is wrong with Ryan Murphy? You think that as a gay man himself, he would want to portray a homosexual in a less offensive, spineless and stereotypical manner. Instead, Blaine puts on a mother-fucking jumpsuit and prances around like Richard Simons on acid. I need to take a few deep breaths. And Ryan murphy needs to take a night class in scriptwriting. And Marley and Blaine need to go fuck themselves.

diva means over the top flamboyant extravagant excessive. so darrens portrayal of an over the top flamboyant extravagant excessive character is in line with the concept, if he was just singing and wearing a prada suit that wouldnt make him a diva.

OMG, I love this version. Cannot say the same for the original though.

Go back and watch the season, Tina has been trash talking. Especially towards Marley since she passed out. Ever since she flipped out before nationals last season, she could be considered a diva .

Marley’s a total asshole of a character, but that girl is absolutely gorgeous.
