Last night, ABC debuted their new female power-driven comedy GCB formerly known as Good Christian Bitches. With this being the final season of it’s highly followed series Desperate Housewives, the network will be looking for something strong to fill that void. What should have been Pan Am’s time to shine failed miserably. Enter GBC. However, will the novel adaptation have what it takes to keep the ratings?

The show stars Kristin Chenoweth, Leslie Bibb and Annie Potts tells the story of Amanda Vaughn (Bibb), a recently divorced mother of two who, to get a fresh start, moves back to the affluent Dallas neighborhood where she grew up to find herself in the whirling midst of salacious gossip, Botox, and fraud. And, it’s AMAZING!

Already off the first pilot episode, I am hooked! Find out why below.

I am a sucker for Kristin Chenoweth. I loved her in Pushing Daisies and I loved her crazy character on Glee. Now, Kristin takes her unique personality to a whole new level playing the ultimate bitch with good Christian morals. As the ring-leader of her gal pals, she is salacious and vicious, all with a wing a prayer. ABC stated that they would remain to be respectful in the aspects of the show but I’m sure they are going to offend a few Christians with the portrayal of these ladies of God.

One story line I cannot wait to blossom is the gay scandal that will erupt between Blake Reilly played by Mark Deklin and his hired hand/gay lover and Booth Becker played by Denton Blane Everett. In the pilot episode, Amanda (Bibb) discovers the two holding hands underneath the table at a restaurant. I hope ths turns into something more later on and that his wife Cricket finds out. I mean come on, Blake Reilly does design women’s clothes for a living. Suspicious?

Overall, I think the pilot was a strong effort for the network and promises to bring more fun from the new series. ABC has been serving up some seriously good series’ this year despite a few misses like Charlie’s Angels and Pan Am. However, I cannot wait to watch next week. Did you catch GCB last night? What did you think? Sound off!
