The HBO fantasy drama delivered an impressive 16.1 million viewers on all of the network’s platforms. That number represents a whopping 50 percent increase from last year’s opener. Very impressive given that viewership during the summer is typically lower than the fall.
With regards to online presence, the show inspired 2.4 million tweets, making the show titled, “Dragonstone,” the most-tweeted episode of all time. The demand was so great, the premiere crashed HBO.com. Its streaming service HBO Now also experienced some outage, much to the displeasure of many subscribers.
