I may not be Robin Antin’s biggest fan but I can give credit where credit is due. She certainly has a knack for creating successful girl groups ie. Girlicious, Paradiso Girls and Pussycat Dolls. However, she’s also responsible for imploding them as well. Had she not let Nicole Scherzinger get away with murder with the other “dolls,” I’m pretty sure PCD would still be kicking around. At the very least, they wouldn’t hate Scherzinger so much.

Originally billed as Pussycat Dolls 2.0, Antin wisely renamed them. Hate the new name (G.R.L.), but at least they aren’t PCD the sequel. The girls first released “Vacation” a couple of months ago as part of The Smurfs 2 soundtrack. The Dr. Luke-produced track also serves as the lead cut from their forthcoming debut album. It’s a strong debut that has an extremely catchy chorus. A little young, but catchy nonetheless. Learning from her past mistakes, Robin shrewdly gives each girl a time to shine in the spotlight.

I have to admit, the song has grown on me, mostly due to the fact that I like most of the girls. With exception to Natasha Slayton, I’ve heard of the rest of them (Lauren Bennett, Paula Van Oppen, Simone Battle and Emmalyn Estrada) through their previous work. Check out the cute girly clip directed by Hannah Lux Davis below. In the most random of random things I’ve seen, Mel B from the Spice Girls makes a cameo at the end of the clip. What favor did Robin have to call in to talk Scary Spice into doing this?
