‘Friends From College’ Receives A Season 2 Renewal

Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders, Annie Parisse, Nat Faxon, Fred Savage and Jae Suh Park will be back for a sophomore term. Netflix renewed Friends From College for an eight-episode second season. #HarvardPride

Truthfully, I’m surprised the streaming service is so bullish on the comedy. The series hasn’t generated much buzz and actually received less-than-stellar reviews. It has a paltry 44 rating on Metacritic and even more pathetic 24% on Rotten Tomatoes. There’s something definitely fishy about this renewal given that Netflix was trigger happy with canceling other better received programs.

The show centers on a group of friends who went to Harvard together and are now facing down their forties and experiencing a range of success, or lack thereof, both professionally and domestically. With interwoven and oftentimes complicated relationships with one another, the series is a comedic exploration of old friendships, former romantic entanglements and balancing adult life with nostalgia for the past.
