Frank Ocean recently reemerged, assisting Calvin Harris on the killer dance track, “Slide.” He followed that up by premiering two new songs- “Chanel” and “Biking.” The latter featured Tyler the Creator and Jay-Z. During the fourth episode of his blonded Radio Beats 1 show, Ocean shared another new offering.
The 29-year-old R&B singer offered up two versions of “Lens,” a solo one and one featuring Travis Scott. It’s a fairly simple arrangement with some slight keyboard and drum touches. Frank’s voice is the true star and main instrument of the production.
Despite our history
Some way at night, you’re stuck when you think of me
Despite the life I lead
All this life in me
Spirits watch me, pants down
Can’t be ‘barrassed of it
I feel their smiles on me (smiles on me)
I feel their smiles on me (smile on me)
I feel their smiles on me (lens on me right now)
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Given all the new material from Ocean lately, it’s safe to assume a new album is arriving sooner, rather than later. Check out his latest below.
On a side note, I’m in love with the single’s artwork. It’s a variation of artist Kerry James Marshall’s famed 1980 painting “A Portrait of the Artist as a Shadow of His Former Self.”
