Florence + The Machine recently reemerged and popped up on the Elton John tribute album Revamp, covering the classic “Tiny Dancer.” The English indie rock act appears to be back for good. They just premiered a new single.
“Sky Full Of Song” arrived without any warning or promotion. It’s now available on all digital platforms and reportedly the lead cut off the band’s forthcoming fourth studio album, out later this year. It’s their first new track since 2016.
“This was a song that just fell out of the sky fully formed. Sometimes when you are performing you get so high, it’s hard to know how to come down,” Welch said in a statement. “There is this feeling of being cracked open, rushing endlessly outwards and upwards, and wanting somebody to hold you still, bring you back to yourself. It’s an incredible, celestial, but somehow lonely feeling.”
I forgot how much I love Florence + The Machine, specifically lead singer Welch’s voice. It’s hypnotic. Check out the accompanying music video below directed by AG Roja
