The first trailer for Fifty Shades Darker set a YouTube record for most views in a 24-hour period. The reign was short-lived as Beauty and The Beast smashed it just months later. Will the sequel reclaim the title with a new trailer? Probably not, but it’ll definitely generate plenty of views.
When a wounded Christian Grey tries to entice a cautious Ana Steele back into his life, she demands a new arrangement before she will give him another chance. As the two begin to build trust and find stability, shadowy figures from Christian’s past start to circle the couple, determined to destroy their hopes for a future together.
The clip showcases the new characters more including Ana’s douchey boss Jack Hyde played by Eric Johnson, Kim Basinger’s Elena and Bella Heathcote’s creepy character Leila. Someone’s got a thing for stalking Ana.
What’s missing from the new promo is all the S&M moments from Fifty Shades of Grey. Is James Foley, who replaced Sam Taylor-Johnson as the director, merely saving all those kinky moments for the theater? The trailer makes the sequel look more like a mystery thriller than a complicated romance.
Fifty Shades Darker undresses in theaters on February 10, 2017. Check out the second trailer below.
