Fifth Harmony Reveal Why They Didn’t Change Their Name After Camila Left

Imagine building a brand for five years then hitting a major crossroads. That’s exactly what Fifth Harmony faced when Camila Cabello left. Was a name change necessary since there were only four members? Or was a search in order to find a replacement? The ladies explained to MTV News why they decided to keep everything status quo.

“It was obviously a thought, because it was a prevalent thing that there’s four of us, not five. Regardless, we were all very united in the fact that we didn’t want to change the name,” said Lauren Jauregui to MTV News. “Fifth Harmony is the name we grew up with and we worked for and it’s our brand. It’s who we are. It’s our entire moments. It’s what we spent five years on.”

When the topic switched over to their fans, Dinah Jane Hanson gave the most adorable reason why they kept the name. “The fans named us Fifth Harmony,” she said. “And now they’re the fifth member.” Aw!

In other 5H-related news, Camila Cabello was recently asked her thoughts on the girls’ new single, “Down.” Read her somewhat shady reply below.

“I’ve heard some snippets of it. I haven’t had a chance to hear the whole thing, but I thought it was pretty cool,” she told AMP Radio. “I wish the best for them and I’m sure they’re going to kill it and I’m super happy making my own music.”

Yeah right, she hasn’t listened to the entire thing. It takes four minutes. LOL. Thoughts on her reply and the girls’ decision to keep the name. Weigh in below.
