The power of the Facebook “like” button is an astounding thing to behold. I know we’ve benefited from it tremendously through all your “likes” over the course of the year. As a result of your sharing, our traffic has grown leaps and bounds. Muchas gracias for that. Obviously, we’re not the only site FB users recommend to their friends list. The social networking site is a great way to share interesting stories to everyone in our network. Facebook just unveiled the 40 most popular articles shared on FB.
Surprisingly, only one celebrity story managed to make the Top 40. “Jackass” star Ryan Dunn’s death being the sole exception. Thank God, that silly ho, Kim Kardashian, didn’t make this list like she did on Bing’s 2011 Top Celeb Search list. Instead, making the list included several stories revolving around the tsunami that struck Japan, viral videos, and the new Zodiac sign to name a few. For the purpose of this post, I listed off only the Top 10 Most Shared Articles. Check out the list below and see if you had a part in spreading any of the stories. I’ve also included my commentary on each post. Enjoy.
10. New Zodiac Sign Dates: Ophiuchus The 13th Sign?
Source: (The Huffington Post)
Based on the new Zodiac calendar, I’m now a Gemini. I’ve always exhibited two very different sides of my personality. Some said it was being moody, a common trait with my former sign Cancer, but I’ve always maintained I wasn’t. Now it all make sense. I was right and not moody, but simply two-sided. LOL.
9. Giant Crocodile Captured Alive In Philippines
They say things grow bigger in Texas. Obviously, that’s not true for everything. Check out the pic of that gigantic crocodile they caught in the Philippines. I love that my native countrymen are ones never to pass up on an opportunity to ham it up for a photo opp.
8. Dog in Japan Stays By The Side of Ailing Friend in the Rubble (VIDEO)
They say a dog is man’s best friend, but that doesn’t just apply to men. In this heart-tugging video, a dog visibly shivering and traumatized by the devastating Japanese tsunami stands by his ailing friend. Is it me, or does anyone else want to adopt this dog? I hope the cameramen did something to assist the canines besides just taking the footage.
7. You’ll Freak When You See the New Facebook
Source: (CNN News)
Personally, I never understood the uproar Facebook’s new changes created. Keep it in check people, it’s only a social networking site. Don’t become those people who are so adverse to change. As expected, people embraced it and the world continued to turn. Apocalypse never came.
6. At Funeral, Dog Mourns the Death of Navy SEAL Killed in Afghanistan (VIDEO)
Dogs seemed to be a hit with people in 2011. This story is the second focused on the loyalty of man’s best friend. That image of the dog lying down by the casket is beyond touching. Don’t be too surprised if you read an upcoming post on Homorazzi.com where Brian and myself adopt a dog.
5. Father Daughter Dance Medley (VIDEO)
Absolutely the most adorable video I’ve seen in a while. If you don’t find yourself smiling during this clip, then you’re emotionally dead inside. LOL. Expect a lot more of these dance numbers at a wedding near you in 2012. Be sure to watch the entire clip. I loved the song they chose for their grand finale. AH-MAZ-ING.
4. Parents, Don’t Dress Your Girls Like Tramps (VIDEO)
Wise and sage advice. I wonder if the advice extends to their gay sons. If it doesn’t, I suggest the author head out to a gay club soon to check out the outfits of some of the hookers I’ve seen dancing at the clubs. My favorite part of the clip was the comparison of parents to “pimps” and slutty girls as “prostiTOTs“. Love it.
3. No, Your Zodiac Sign Hasn’t Changed
Turns out I’m a Cancer after all. Guess, I really am moody and not a Gemini. People who have their original Zodiac sign tattooed on their body can now all collectively let out a huge sigh of relief.
2. What Teachers Really Want To Tell Parents
O.M.F.G. Best article ever. Some parents are so quick to blame teachers, media, athletes and musicians for all their child’s problems. Stop displacing and take onus. Don’t have kids if you can’t parent them. As the article states, teachers are there to teach and not be your nanny. A definite must read.
1. Satellite Photos of Japan, Before and After the Quake and Tsunami
Source: (New York Times)
They say a picture is worth a thousand words and that couldn’t be any truer after seeing these images. They truly tell the devastation caused by the menacing tsunami that wreaked havoc on Japan earlier this year. The sliding functionality is such an amazing tool to compare the before and after pictures.
