This Tuesday, Estelle will release her third studio album All Of Me. We’ve already had a chance to hear Break My Heart from the new disc but yesterday, Atlantic Records released a new sizzle track from the album titled Do My Thing which features label mate, Janelle Monáe. Estelle is definitely channeling more of Janelle’s funky style with this tune.
Penned by Ne-Yo, the ladies sing about being strong and doing their thing. “My roll it ain’t your roll, but trust I know just where I’m going.” The tune was inspired by Estelle’s own life, leaving behind her life of living in Grandmother’s basement and starting her own successful career in the U.S..
Estelle also sent some major love to the way of her collaborator, Janelle Monáe. “As another black girl she is so singular,” she told Rap-Up TV. “She’s genuinely nice and I understood where she was coming from with her style and her energy, and I feel that she got me too.” Give a listen to the funky/motwon track below.
