Emma Stone must’ve been an angel and earned major karma points in her previous life. How else can you explain that she’s not starred in one, but two films with Ryan Gosling. Some bitches get all the luck 😉 Her latest role has her sporting some glamorous Veronica Lake-type waves in director Ruben Fleischer’s Gangster Squad.
The Warner Bros. Pictures gangster period film was supposed to hit theaters in September, but due to the The Dark Knight Rises shootings in Aurora, Colorado, the studio pushed the film back til January 2013. There’s a scene in the film where characters shoot machine guns at moviegoers through the screen of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Given the tragedy, it was a wise move to delay the release.
At the time, reports suggested that re-shoots were planned to change the scene. Since then, no one has commented if they did follow through with those intentions. I guess we’ll find out in the new year if the film underwent a re-cut/re-shoot or if remains intact. Check out the newly-released character posters of the main cast looking pretty badass below.
Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and–if he has his way–every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. “Gangster Squad” is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.
