Looks like Julia Robert’s niece will be Woodsboro’s newest resident. Emma Roberts has signed on to play one of the new heroines, Jill, in the highly-anticipated “Scream 4“. But as we all know, in the world of “Scream”, nothing is what it seems. Rumor has it that Jill will be related to Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott’s character as either her niece or cousin. Whether or not she’ll be a terrorized teen or the one doing the terrorizing, it remains to be seen.
The 19-year-old is best known for playing “Nancy Drew” and other teeny-bopper roles in “Aquamarine” and “Unfabulous”. This marks her first foray into more adult-fare roles. She released a statement saying the same thing.
Emma said: ‘I’m so excited to be part of this ground-breaking franchise. It’s the perfect opportunity for me to do something completely different than I’ve ever done before.’
Wes Craven added: ‘Emma’s talent, beauty, and range will add immensely to the sophistication, intensity, and fun of the Scream franchise as it returns to the screen once more.
Reportedly, Twilight’s Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) was rumored to be up for the role. Whether Ashley turned down the role or the studio changed their mind, no one really knows. Most likely her increased salary for “Twilight 4” probably was a major point of contention. Former “Heroes” star, Hayden Panettierre is still in the running to play Roberts’ character’s geeky BFF. Since “Heroes” was canceled, it would be wise for Hayden to sign on immediately.
What do you think of Roberts joining Neve Campbell and crew for the fourth installment? Good choice or meh?
