Early reports had Beyonce and Jay-Z potentially performing at the Royal Wedding reception. Both Kate Middleton and Prince William are big fans of the superstar couple and reportedly invited them to perform. While there are conflicting reports on whether they’ll actually perform or not, one musician is confirmed to serenade the newlyweds.
British singer, Ellie Goulding, who is coming off a well-reviewed set at Coachella is scheduled to sing for Kate and William at their wedding reception for 300 of their closest friends and family. Ellie was reportedly knocked off her feet when she received the invitation to perform for Prince William and Kate – and was so hugely honored when they said they were both big fans of her music. The 24-year-old singer will be performing her cover of Elton John’s “Your Song” for the special occasion. I wonder if Elton will jump in and join Ellie for an impromptu duet, considering he’s also invited.

Ellie’s rendition of “Your Song” is her biggest hit so far from her debut album, “Lights“. Her cover of Elton’s 1970 hit is so sweet and beautiful. Definitely fitting for the occasion. Having said that, I would’ve cracked a smile if she sang another track from her CD, “Your Biggest Mistake“. LOL.
While Ellie is probably more appropriate for the distinguished affair, than B and Jay-Z. The sight of Queen Elizabeth grooving to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” would’ve been priceless. Are you a fan of Ellie? If not, you should be. She’ll be the next big thing from England. With Duffy, Estelle and Adele all hailing from across the pond, UK is certainly a breeding ground for some talented female musicians.
