Elijah Wood is one busy boy. Wood is about to head into his first ever TV series, FX’s Wilfred which will begin airing on June 23rd. Then later this summer, he will reprise the role of Frodo in Peter Jackson’s rendition of The Hobbit. Not to mention Elijah also have Happy Feet 2 coming out shortly and will be voicing a character in Tron: Uprising for Disney.
But Elijah’s newest casting has got me really excited. He will star alongside funny man Andy Samberg and Rashida Jones in a new romantic comedy titled Celeste and Jesse Forever. The film tells the story of a couple going through a divorce but trying to maintain their friendship while pursuing new relationships. Sounds tricky and complicated. So where does Elijah fit in?
He will be playing Celeste’s saucy gay friend although according to the actual script, the character isn’t actually gay, rather a metrosexual business partner trying to fill the shoes of one homo with snarky remarks. This role should do wonders for the many gay rumors floating around for Mr. Wood. We’ve all wondered “is he or isn’t he” for years.
The film was written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack and will be directed by Lee Toland Krieger. Other announced cast members include Emma Roberts, Ari Graynor and Chris Messina. No word on when production will begin or when the film will be set for release.
