About a month ago, I wrote about EFFEN’s tasty cucumber-flavored vodka. Being the thorough person that I am, I thought I’d check out what else they offered and see how it stacked up. I decided to go with EFFEN Black Cherry and their non-flavored one for taste comparison. Once again, I thought I’d offer it to a few friends while I cooked dinner. At least that way, if my meal wasn’t the most delectable, my guests wouldn’t notice because they were a little inebriated. I kid, my meal was a culinary delight. I’m turning into quite the chef as of late, if I do say so myself.
The one thing I loved about EFFEN Cucumber was it was the perfect summer adult treat. It tasted like summer in a bottle but with a kick. With such a great first impression to the EFFEN brand, I was worried EFFEN Black Cherry wouldn’t live up. Fear not, the black cherry flavor was absolutely tasty as well. Almost too good if you ask me. I ended up drinking more than my fair share because it went down so smoothly. That was especially true when I paired it with Coke. Not kidding, it tasted exactly like Cherry Coke but 70 proof. If you’re a bit more high brow and like your cocktails a little fancier, check out this drink recipe provided by EFFEN.
EFFEN® Vodka Sparkling Black Cherry Cooler
2 parts EFFEN® Black Cherry Vodka
2 parts Fresh Lemon Sour
1 part Cranberry Juice
3 Maraschino Cherries
3 parts Seltzer
Method: Combine ingredients except for seltzer in a tall glass and stir very well. Pour over ice and top with seltzer – then stir again.
Both flavors of EFFEN left great impressions. Now, it was time to test drive their signature flavorless bottle. The Holland-imported vodka is distilled from wheat grain and is 80 proof. Admittedly, I don’t have the most discernible taste buds when it comes to the wide range of Vodka. It’s mostly due to the fact I mix my vodka with an assortment of mixes. Typically, I’m not your vodka on the rocks guy. That being said, EFFEN tastes great on its own and complements a wide array of my favorite cocktails perfectly. I would also like to add, despite the abundance of drinks I drank, I didn’t feel at all sluggish the next day. I’m not sure if EFFEN’s high quality has anything to do with that, but I thought it was worth mentioning. In honor of Father’s Day, EFFEN has come up with a cocktail for this special day. Check it out below.
