Matt Damon & Kristen Wiig Shrink Themselves To Solve Over-Population In ‘Downsizing’

It’s Honey, I Shrunk The Kids but with major Oscar buzz. Not surprising given that it’s from the brilliant Alexander Payne. The 56-year-old director received some Oscar notice with Sideways, The Descendants and Nebraska. This one will also join their ranks.

When scientists discover how to shrink humans to five inches tall as a solution to over-population, Paul (Matt Damon) and his wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) decide to abandon their stressed lives in order to get small and move to a new downsized community — a choice that triggers life-changing adventures. A new big world awaits them.

Christoph Waltz, James Van Der Beek, Niecy Nash, Neil Patrick Harris and Alec Baldwin also make appearances. The buzz for Hong Chau, who plays a Vietnamese activist shrunk against her will by the government, is huge. Expect to hear her name during awards seasons.

Downsizing arrives in theaters on November 22. Check out the trailer below.
