Josh Brolin Joins ‘Deadpool 2’ While Dolph Lundgren Dives Into ‘Aquaman’

Two highly-anticipated superhero flicks added some muscle to their respective casts. Both additions are great, IMHO.

First up is Josh Brolin. The 49-year-old actor has reportedly landed the role of Cable in Deadpool 2, beating out Michael Shannon and Stranger Things‘ David Harbour, who were reportedly on the short list.

His character is “a man who is a leader and used to being obeyed, who is very controlled but with an aura of simmering violence,” according to THR. This marks Brolin’s second role in the Marvel Universe. He also plays Thanos in the Avenger films.

Meanwhile, Dolph Lundgren joins Warner Bros.’ standalone film, Aquaman. The 59-year-old Swede will portray King Nereus, ruler of the underwater kingdom of Xebel. He harbors a grudge against Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and has designs on his love interest, Mera (Amber Heard).

Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also star in the film. Like Brolin, this isn’t Lundgren’s first foray with superhero flicks. He’s appeared in The Punisher and Masters of the Universe.
