Dolly Parton is once again using her extensive music library as inspiration for a television project. Instead of NBC, which she teamed up with for Coat Of Many Colors and its Christmas sequel, the 72-year-old country legend inked a deal with Netflix.
“As a songwriter, I have always enjoyed telling stories through my music. I am thrilled to be bringing some of my favorite songs to life with Netflix,” Parton said in a statement. “We hope our show will inspire and entertain families and folks of all generations, and I want to thank the good folks at Netflix and Warner Bros. TV for their incredible support.”
Not only is Parton working behind the scenes as executive producer, she’ll also appear in the series. Each episode of the eight-episode anthology will be based on a song by her.
With Parton now part of the Netflix family, hopefully this means she’s one step closer to reuniting with Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda for a guest arc on Grace & Frankie. How awesome would that be?
Intrigued by this new series? Can’t wait to watch the episode based on “Jolene” 😉
