I’ve known Jeremy for a long time now and unlike many circuit DJs out there, he truly understands the circuit scene very well and is evident from the type of music he plays to what parties he attends. The combination of venue, decorations, performances & music play an integral part in the circuit experience. Music alone can make or break a party and a talented DJ will know how to keep the energy up and keep his set interesting. Download Jeremy’s “Party People” continuous dj set on the second part of the post.
Who is DJ Jeremy Khamkeo?
A breakout artist on Toronto’s house music circuit, DJ Jeremy Khamkeo has had a love of the genre since his early twenties when he first hit Vancouver’s underground scene. He was drawn to an industry in which people were driven and united by a common love of music, and was fascinated by seeing the energy a DJ shares with his or her crowd. To Jeremy, churning out a high-energy set that sets the mood at a packed party or high-profile event is a thoroughly rewarding thrill.
After moving to Toronto in 2006, Jeremy’s new crowd of listeners ate up his tracks faster than he could put sets together. They gave him validation and helped him realize he had been creating and marketing his own musical style and image (without giving serious thought to turning his passion into a career) and confirmed his potential as a sought-after DJ. Jeremy made the move from hobby to profession in June, 2008, when he took a leap of faith and launched his professional career on the decks during Toronto Pride.
Amid his new found success Jeremy remains modest, taking one day at a time. He loves what he does, and says the positive response from his fans is reward enough. He’s been influenced by and aspires to be as influential as big-name artists including Tony Moran, Peter Rauhofer, Abel and Paulo, but he’s one DJ who’s truly in the business for his love of beats. Commercial success is an incredible bonus.
While music continues to be Jeremy’s passion, he says spinning a perfect set remains a constant challenge – deciding how and when to place both cutting-edge tracks and seasoned crowd favourites to create that special moment on the dance floor. And if taking Toronto’s house scene by storm hasn’t been enough to keep Jeremy going, he doesn’t rule out becoming more deeply involved in the industry in the future, perhaps in a producing role.
