Well, this is a pleasant surprise. Rumor had it that DJ Earworm’s music video mash-up wouldn’t go live until December 25. Looks like Christmas came early. The music maestro unveiled his newest masterpiece and it really elevates the previously-released audio.
Ever since, I heard his “United States of Pop” 2009 roundup, I’ve anticipated DJ Earworm’s yearly masterpiece highlighting the year’s biggest tracks. Dare I say it, but I think it’s his best one since his 2009 mashup.
I was in Portland this past weekend and heard this wicked mashup on the radio. Within a few seconds, I had a feeling it was from my favorite DJ artist. And low and behold I was right. DJ Earworm definitely has own distinctive style- upbeat and melodious. Born Jordan Roseman, Earworm has been dazzling us with his annual mash-up since 2007. Check out his 2012 edition, titled “Shine Brighter”, featuring Bruno Mars, Carly Rae Jepsen, Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, PSY, Gotye, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, One Direction, fun. and many, many more including Phillip Phillips’ American Idol coronation song, “Home“.
What do you think? How does it compare with his previous mash-ups? Are you a fan of DJ Earworm? Sound off below.

I like how he manages to compile the lyrics together to mean something different. I also like how someone has finally pointed out how much “Tonight” is mentioned in today’s pop music.

I’m actually disappointed with this year’s offering. I love DJ Earworm, but this was craptastic. Nothing will top the 2011 mashup, I still listen to it on a regular basis. Hopefully 2013 will be better.

I think Dr. Earworm is drastically under rated. Not only does it require brilliance to be able to do this but he’s trying to show people a deeper meaning in music. As pointed out before he is using all of these songs to send a different message. I assume that people who hate his new stuff just aren’t interested in it. They would prefer mindless bubble gum pop from the 90′s. Personal opinions of course.
