Disobedience is based on the debut novel of the same name by British author Naomi Alderman. It’s a nuanced tale of same-sex love within the Orthodox Jewish community. Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams and Alessandro Nivola star.
The drama follows a woman as she returns from New York after the death of her estranged rabbi father to the Orthodox Jewish community in North London where she grew up. Once back at home, she stirs up controversy when she shows an interest in her childhood female friend.
Weisz and McAdams play the reunited friends. Making matters more complicated is that McAdams is now married to their other childhood friend played by Nivola who just happens to be a rabbi who is the heir apparent to Weisz’s late father.
Apparently, there’s several charged scenes between McAdams and Weisz, including one where spitting occurs during a long love scene. Get it girls 🙂
Disobedience arrives in theaters April 27, 2018. Check out the trailer below.
