Okay gamers out there, this isn’t your average video game to film adaptation, but I think it’ll make a lot of you 8-bit’ers out there pretty stoked. Disney has just released it’s first trailer for the forthcoming animated feature, “Wreck-It Ralph,” based on the “bad guy” from the popular arcade video game, “Fix-It Felix Jr.” Here’s a synopsis of the upcoming film:
For thirty years, Ralph has been doing the same job over and over and has become tired of being the bad guy. Wanting to prove he can be a good guy and not just a villain, Ralph escapes his game through the power cord and lands in Hero’s Duty, a first-person shooter where he helps the game’s hero, Sergeant Calhoun, battle against “Cy-Bugs”, the game’s alien invaders. He later enters Sugar Rush, a kart racing game set on tracks made of candies, cookies and other sweets. There, Ralph meets Vanellope von Schweetz, one of the game’s characters, who has learned that her game is faced with a dire threat that could affect the entire arcade, and one that Ralph may have inadvertently started.
The 3D feature stars some pretty stellar vocal talent from the likes of John C. Reilly, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch and Sarah Silverman. What’s also amazing is that a few other arcade game characters make an appearance in the film such as Clyde from PacMan and Bowser from Super Mario Brothers. Check it out below.
